Philip Metcalf

After obtaining his Masters in Woodworking from Baseford Hall in Nottingham, UK, Philip moved to the United States in 2001. He started a high-end trim and furniture company out of Atlanta, Ga and was able to work on some of the most prestigious homes in historical Atlanta. After the downturn in 2008, he moved to Texas and proceeded to move into the cabinetry side of woodworking. He started Sherwood Specialty Woodworking (named after Sherwood Forest near his home in England) with the idea that quality, not quantity, is the recipe for success. His desire to make historically accurate pieces and still use hand tools as much as possible keeps him on the workbench more than in the office. Quality cabinetry and furniture that can last a lifetime is always his goal, no matter the style or the material. Whether it be a hand-carved Hepplewhite chair, Shaker Style cabinetry, or a Contemporary Credenza every piece is a quality piece built to last.
